Guitar Lessons On DVD
Learning guitar on DVD can be a great way to supplement your private guitar lessons with a real tutor. It comes with a number of advantages including the fact that you can learn at your own pace and replay the instruction as many times as you wish.
There are some things to be careful about however. Not everyone is good at self instruction and even though you can see and hear the tutor on the screen it’s really not the same as having private lessons with a real person. Each student is different and often comes with unique problems and ability to learn the instrument. A guitar instruction DVD is not able to compensate for this and you consequently you may find times when it doesn’t succeed in teaching you effectively.
Taking guitar lessons on DVD is of real benefit when you already have some playing experience. This experience somehow gives you the power you need to have a better chance of being able to learn successfully from books or guitar DVDs. It’s all a question of balance and how motivated you are to learn guitar, is it a burning desire or just a curiosity?
In any case you should always try to ensure that the level of the DVD is suitable for you to learn from. There is no point in trying to do impossible things far beyond your current technical level just the same as something too easy is going to bore you.
Recently, guitar lessons on DVD have come under increased pressure from learning guitar online. Many people now see online guitar lessons as a cheaper and a more immediate way to learn guitar. It’s also often the case that you can try taster lessons online which are not possible with guitar instruction DVDs.
